I am a passionate supporter of this wonderful programme and each month I have the great privilege of donating handmade glass beads to encourage the strength and bravery of children during their cancer treatment. When I make glass beads it takes time, creativity and skill. If I in a small way, can support their journey I am very thankful. Each month I choose my favourite beads and send them off to the Artist’s Coordinator Shirlee from Beads of Courage, who sends them to sick children in hospitals around New Zealand.
From the Child Cancer Foundation Website: “Beads of Courage is a unique programme designed to honour the challenging journey children take while receiving care for cancer… Each collection of beads symbolises the courage and honours the milestones achieved along the treatment path and helps them to find meaning in their illness and helps to restore their sense of self through creativity.”
