Handmade Glass Bead Jewellery

All the way from Africa…

A friend once joked that by leaving my jewelry in a big Moroccan bowl by the back door, I was setting up the perfect opportunity for the whole lot to be swiped by robbers as they ran down our hall.

Funny enough we were robbed and they walked past the bowl of glass bead and gold jewelry and stole the cheap as chips pewter vase of small change and a GPS. BAM to you thieves!

The issue is that I love the whole aesthetic of the bowl/bead combo but the beads do get tangled up. So grabbing a necklace as I rush out the door is not always successful when I end up with a mess of knots and beads and an hour later I am ready to leave.

So looking after bead jewelry is a simple process, best advised not to tangle 20 strings all together in a Moroccan bowl. (This bowl is so cool I picked it with a rug in a small village just out of Fez, bought it on the side of the road for the price of a coffee. Wrapped it in brown paper and gave it to a man in a shop who thought Nouvelle Zelande was in Europa)

The main thing is to keep glass beads separated if you want to spend less time getting ready to go out. When they need a sparkle up which is not often some soapy water and a polish works well. These beads will be handed down through the generations with stories to tell if they are looked after with a little love!
